Electronics Technician — Security & 2-Way Radio

TWR Communications is looking for new members to add to its T-E-A-M. TWR Communications has been in business continually since the 1940s.

Employment opportunities include an Electronics Technician and Installer for Home and Commercial Security, Video Surveillance and Two-Way Radios on TWR's Network.

TWR Communications has been in business since the 1940s specializing over the years in Two-Way Radio, Paging, Customer Home & Commercial Security, Video Surveillance Systems Cellular, Internet and Telephone Answering Service. We are the only locally based full line communications carrier left in the Cumberland area.


Brief Summary/Objective

The electronics technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electronics such as Two-Way Radio, Security, Fire, Surveillance Cameras, Internet Devices and other related components. Position may occasionally involve climbing ladders, trouble-shooting and installing systems in the field at Homes, Businesses and Vehicles.

Radio Technician to install, service, and maintain Two-Way Radio, RF, microwave and data systems.

Install, program, maintain, or repair security or fire alarm wiring and equipment. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.

Communicating with other members of TWR's team keeps our company a leader in the communications field in the Tri-State area.

Ability to utilize and interpret various testing tools. Maintaining a safe working environment is a must.

Basic soldering experience preferred. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Applicant must be a US Citizen. Our experienced team will listen carefully to your employment needs and then work diligently to match your skills to our qualifications through training as needed.


Essential Functions

  1. Troubleshoots and repair electronic equipment, including programming, power supplies, gauges and test equipment.
  2. Program analog and digital two-way radios and repeater systems.
  3. Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment.
  4. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
  5. Position equipment using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment.
  6. Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.
  7. Explain use of products or services.
  8. Analyze and repair portable and mobile radios.
  9. Interface with customers to resolve radio issues.
  10. Record all purchases and sales of parts and equipment.
  11. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures.
  12. Informs appropriate management of potential system outages and works to restore services when needed.
  13. Performs preventive maintenance functions at Company's Tower Sites as directed.

In a commercial setting our Service Technicians are well versed in both installations and service, they are responsible for installing, programming, and troubleshooting security equipment, responding to service calls and customer training.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to read and write English.
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, team player, and work well with others.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to be insurable and able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Criminal Background Check for the Security side of TWR's operations.

Added Value

Considerable Experience is not required but would have exceptional value.

  • Understand two-way radio equipment and systems or background in electronic equipment installations.
  • RF and microwave experience a plus or willingness to be trained to learn.
  • Possess knowledge of transmitters/power supplies/repeaters.
  • CCTV, Access Control, Alarm systems, Troubleshooting, Networking, Pulling wire, IP camera installation, access control, and surveying of integrated systems.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and occasionally climbing ladders. Heavy lifting is uncommon with most items being less than 20 pounds.
